Where to begin?
During the 2012 growing season, we hope to lay the groundwork for a small, diversified farm at the Lawrenceville School in central New Jersey. This spring, summer, and fall, we will be building infrastructure, planting cover crops, collecting equipment, raising laying hens, putting up fence, etc. We also to hope to research the history of the property and to document the whole journey here with blog posts and a whole lot of pictures. We have a big old garage which will make a great barn, we have a perfect little Kubota tractor, and we have some field space set aside. Next steps? Cleaning up the barn and the property around it. Ordering chicks, building a brooder, and designing a moveable coop for the pasture. Seeding oats, clover, and field peas in the future vegetable fields. Hiring a fencing contractor... and more, and more, and more.
