Big Red Farm Share, August 27 -- change of plans!

Dear BRF Shareholders,

The bad news is that our harvesting crew has been greatly diminished this week -- we're minus one Latin teacher who has to attend faculty meetings, and three or four farm interns who have to head off to college -- so this week's farm share will appear in a slightly modified form.  The good news is that the cherry tomatoes and the raspberries are going gangbusters, and we want you all to have some!

This week, we are offering only one size share, for $10.  The share will consist of the following items:

  • 1 quart of cherry tomatoes (we'll pick these for you)
  • 1 small head of lettuce (we'll pick this for you too)
  • pick-your-own raspberries -- 1 pint per customer
  • pick-your-own flowers and herbs -- no limit, but please remember that others will come by to pick after you!
We'll provide containers for raspberries, and clippers and rubber bands for herbs and flowers.  You can come by to pick up (and pick) your share anytime after noon on Thursday.  The cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and picking supplies will be under the tent, as will the usual sign-in sheet and payment envelope.  The other things are inside the deer-fenced field that contains the greenhouses, adjacent to the pick-up area.  We'll put up signs to direct you to the flower/herb garden and the raspberry patch.

Please note that this change is for this week ONLY -- next Thursday, September 3, we'll be back to our usual system.  Many thanks for your flexibility!

Sincerely,

The Big Red Farm team
